- I just started up my first tank.. (Juwel Rio 240l) and was surprised to discover that the glass is so dark - the bog root I've got is still leeching tannin.. nothing excessive, but combined with slightly smokey glass it's turned
my Betta from blue/red to brown/purple.
Hopefully future water changes will improve things, but I'm still curious as to why they haven't used clear glass - any ideas?

Hi Kelpie
I have Juwels - and have never come across them having dark glass. This may sound like a funny question - but is this assumption based purely in the change in colour on your betta? Only the one thing I *have* found with off the shelf Juwels is that their lighting is dreadful. Change the lights and generally you find yourself will a whole new sparkly world!

No.. seen from above his colours are fine! Perhaps it's just me being
fussy.. Tend to agree with you regarding the lighting - though I haven't got reflectors in place yet.. they're top of the next shopping list :)
