I have recently gotten and figure 8 puffer fish from my wife as a birthday present and put it in a 15 gal. tank with a Suckerbelly Loach (Chinese Butterfly Sucker mouth). I haven't seen any problems with the two of them they get along quite nicely but I'm wondering if anybody knows of any unseen problem like chemical reactions and such that would cause either fish harm. This is my first fish tank since I was about 6 so all the help and advice is appreciated.

Thanks
Chris :dance2:

The figure 8 puffer is a brackish fish so need the addition of marine salt to keep them healthy. I'm thinking your loach is maybe a hillstream loach. I don't know much about them except that they are definitely not brackish. It is possible to keep figure eights with other fish (I keep mine with knight gobies) but they can be nippy. A 15g is a nice size tank for one but it would be better to relocate one of the fish to another tank and give the puffer the environment it needs. Oh, and feed it crunchy food like snails and shellfish.

how long have you had the loach? what kind of setup do you have for it?
