hahaha! That's cool EMG! It seems like no one knows about Custer State Park! It has buffalo herds that you can drive through with no fence!!!(stay in your car!!!!), and Needles Highway! It's in the hills! I don't know how to describe it except BEAUTIFUL!
The motercycle rally is held every August. over 500,000 motercycles take over the western part of south dakota...mostly in Sturgis. Sturgis is a TINY town with like 2,000 people in it! It looks like a totally different town...
Just don't go late at night! It can be scary then!!!!!!!!!

I've been to South Dakota...stayed just on the edge of Custer State Park. Didn't get up to Sturgis, but went to Deadwood..checked out a few caves, panned for gold..
Drove on Needles highway, went to see the Presidents..ate buffalo...

The Motorcycle rally in Sturgis is every Harley riders dream destination! I haven't been there but I've seen shows about it - - the bikes are fantastic to look at as well as the riders! This past year there were close to a million bikers because it was Harley's 100th Anniversary.
I can't see how it would be possible to get a hotel room there, though, and I hate camping, but as a Harley rider it's definately on my lifes' "to-do" list!

this weekend is the annual bike run in my area. Last year, there must have been 1000+ bikes, the police start the parade (for lack of a better word) and the all follwo through. For some reason, the American in everyone comes out on this day as you watch all the bikes driving by. It's absolutely breathtaking!
