150W MH bulb in a 250W ballast?

I am considering bidding on 3 of these MH fixtures on eBay and using only the ballasts, or maybe the reflectors as well if they are suitable. These are 250W ballasts, but I will only need 150W of lighting times three lights for my tank. Can I put a 150W bulb into these ballasts? Apparantly 150W bulbs are the bulb of choice.

No, definatly not. Look for 175 watt electronic ballasts to power the 150 watt double ended bulbs.

Thanks Slip. There was an ebay auction on 250W industrial MH fixtures and they were only a short drive from me. The winning bid was only $36.62 and apparantly the seller has more. At that price, it is worth trying to work around the higher wattage. I might see if I can make it work somehow.
