Good one! :D
The new Corolla we have has a loud beeping sound if you don't buckle-up, and the beeping gets faster like the car is about to explode -- very annoying, but in a good way... LOL

Datsun, and later, nissan Z cars talk to you. They say over the speakers, door is open, or E-brake is on. On the newer models (1990's) if you went above 100mph they repeat, "warning, warning warning" and if you get to about 130mph, they start repeating "danger, danger, danger". This too makes you feel the car will explode!!:)

What happened to the simple buzzer that was easily disconnected?
Hmmm- technology to save ourselves from ourselves...

I have an old car (74) that wont start if your seat belt isnt done up...Simple technology that could still work today..The only draw back is i have to buckle up the groceries :) Guess that is why people stare at me

Wait? You have to have ALL the belts buckled? That's strange. And what happens if you unbuckle while driving? I hope the car doesn't shut off!!!!!

I've had cars that started to shake like they were actually going to break up at 100 and I didn't need a speaker warning me cause:
"I can't hold her Jim, she's breaking up" in a Scottish accent was blaring in my brain.
D*mn technology is ruining our imaginations.

That is what I liked about my F-150 and now my Durango. You are able to diable them from making noise. In the owners manual it had instructions on how to do it. You have to hit the buttons in certain sequence in a certain time period. I turned mine off as soon as I found it.

"T"Certain buttons? Guess I should read some of the manual.. LOL
So far, it's just for seatbelts (the beeping), and I need to wear them anyway. As far as a high speed warning - that's not gonna happen... :D
They wait till you get to 100 before warning you ??? Lol...

Oh, wish I'd known that a while back! I'm getting the manual for my husbands truck and finding that!

I've had cars that started to shake like they were actually going to break up at 100 and I didn't need a speaker warning me cause: My pinto did that at 55.
I also had to buckle groceries in that car. Finally found the pressure sensor under the seat.

Yeah. I had to turn the key to a certain position and then turn the lights on/off in a quick time period. It was something like that.
I NEVER read the owners manual / directions on anything, but I was stuck waiting for somebody for a bit and had nothing better to do. It was well worth it since I found that small section.

Sumthin: No the car wouldnt shut off...The weight from the groceries in the seat tripped a pneumatic (sp?) switch...Removing these are apparently not a good idea...Can screw your car up good...Trust me, in my car, you want to be buckled in :)
