Before I ask here are my tank specs

10 G Tank w/
2 Silver Mollies (1 male, 1 female)
1 Spotted Cory
I also have a Penguin Mini power filter

Ammonia - 0 - .2
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 30
PH - 7.8
Temp - 78 deg.
(tank is not fully cycled)

My problem is the female Mollie is acting strange over the last day and a half. Not as active as she was at first. She was the food hog. Now, She does swim up for food and sometimes play...Although most of her time is spent on the bottom hiding in the plants. She is getting a little larger belly and I am wondering if these simptoms are a sign of her being pregnant? Or what signs I should look for and how long the process may take. Maybe it is another problem altogether. (The other two fish are fine)

I was also wondering about doing the water changes and when I should add the water conditioner. I have been adding the water to my tank first and then conditioning. Is this the proper way or should it be conditioned prior to adding to the existing tank water?

Thanks for any help.

Does sound pregnant--if she's hiding, she may be getting ready to birth soon.
For conditioning--you should add the conditioner as the new water is coming in, or even before putting the water inthe tank (if you use buckets, not an option with something like a Python). If you are adding it to the tank, make sure you dose for the entire tnak, not just what you're adding (I'm pretty sure that is what the instructions say, but best to verify!).

i would do a water change soon, nitrates should be under 20. that could be affecting her behavior somewhat.

Thanks for the info...Looks like I may be searching for a larger tank sooner than I thought. Seeing how I bought this one only a week and a half ago. The females belly looks bigger today. How often could the Mollies have a fry?

once pregnant, i think that a female may give birth every 4 weeks..
not sure if i remembered correctly though :idea2:
