I just got one taday!!!! I'm just excited---I don't have a question on it as I read up on them a bit before buying--- so I posted here. It's going to have to live in the 10 till I get my 60 back up and running.

  :bday:

They're incredibly cool fish.

I lost mine while we were gone on our trip:(

Do you know how it died? mine will be sharing the 10 for a few weeks while I get the 60 going. I worry about the danios. Not sure weather they will tear up it's fins, or if it will eat them. I'll keep an eye out for any mischief, and just hope it doesn't arrise.

No. We left and he was fine. We came back and the only thing left of him was the cartilidge of his "armpit".

I think both of your concerns are valid. In a larger tank, maybe not (I'd be worried about him eating them) but in a small tank...I'm not sure.

I saw one of those at the store the other day. Aren't they brackish? It would be neat to have one with a low water level tank, and a platform to hold crickets or some other poor unsuspecting bug for it to "shoot". I hadn't seen the expected lifespan on the info I looked up, I hope I can proove that one wrong.

I am gonna have to bring this thread back to life...no need to have millions of threads with the same topic.

I bought mine last night. He was wild caught and very, VERY skittish. I know I need to feed him live food until I have him used to flake food, but does anyone have any tips on how to get him so he/she isn't so skittish?

The rest of my fish come up to the glass when I enter the room, and when I am cleaning the tank, they come to the top, and the goldies will actually let me almost hold them. (I've had them forever) They will swim into my hands and I can craddle em. When I have fresh veggies in the tank and my Plec is feeding, i can reach in and "pet" him too.

I love fish.

Very interesting fish!

I'm surprised only 4 years longevity - is that true?

I just read that info on your link JOE and I have 2 Tiger Barbs in my tank.....oops.
