I recently put sand in my 55 gal tank.. It is EXREMEly cloudy; as in I can't see anything. I set it up about 10pm last night and it's 11:17am. Still the same?? how long will this take to settle or will it??

If you just set it up last night and there are hopefully no fish in there ...

Siphon or dump the dirty water out. Stir it up real good first. Repeat this several times. You'll never get it all the way clean, but you can get it to where it will settle in a very short amount of time. This will also save your filter.

Just do it!

Also sand can take days to settle, that is why you clean it real good before you put it in to try to get as much of that fine stuff that clouds the tank out. Do as stated dump and refill several times to clean the sand.

you could take the sand out and put it into a bucket, rinse/siphon remaining water, and then run a hose in the bucket for ten, fifteen minutes or so until the water clears up.

Take the sand out before you beat your tank up trying to rinse sand in it. The sand will never be 100% clear. Once you put it back in the tank, put a plate on top of the sand. When you fill the tank, pour the water onto the plate so as not to stir up the sand too much. It's not uncommon for sand to take a day or more to settle out.

You can get it clean enough that it never clouds again ...

I managed it, but I've got a python so, that helped A LOT!

I would say shut off your filter until everything settles down....give it a day and it should be all clear

Tank Setup

Well, I made a trip to lowe's... and I have made a lazy man's "water changing" system for 30$ :D. Here are some pictures... My tank isn't pretty yet, so, I'm a little ashamed :X
