I built a 600 gal glass tank in my wall. I have not started the reef tank yet, by have had fresh water in it while trying to find time to continue building it. I recently replaced the fresh water with salt water, and have found there to be hard water stains etched into the glass. I believe the only answer is glass restoration, as I have tried various chemicals. I would appreciate any information or recommendations. Thank you.

Be careful with using chemicals to clean the glass due to the fact that they can soak into the seals in the corners of the tank and stay there until the salt water brings them out. I had a 55g tank that I used chemicals on to clean and was STRONGLY advised against using it due to that fact.

Carl, I think the deposits must be on the glass, not pitted into the glass. I think that anything that would eat into the glass itself would be hazardous to your health, and anything else you would try to put in the tank!
What kind of chemicals did you try?
Anytime I have hard water stains on anything, I just use vinegar, and let it soak for a few hours.
I would suggest, if you don't have livestock in your tank yet, to empty it out (at least part way, to below the stain level) and put paper towels that have been soaked in vinegar on the stains. If you lay them flat against the glass, they should stick & not fall down...
HTH, and good luck!
