I wouldn't put anything in there until you do get the bigger tank. A word of caution, when the goldfish get's big enough, it may wind up trying to make a snack of the cory. It has happened and with disastrous result because of the cory's skin being somewhat hard and their fins being so spiny. More often than not, as the fish would try to swallow, the cory would expand all fins causing it to get stuck... can't push him in, can't pull him out... resulting in the loss of both fish. I know it's a scary thought but not an unheard of one.

THANK YOU wata! Has nobody even considered that a 10 gall is far too small for goldfish. They need at least 55 gallons. On top of that goldfish are coldwater fish and therefore not compatible with cories. Because no matter how you slice it, one species is not going to be happy/comfortable. Instead of thinking about cories get a bigger tank, or get rid of the goldfish and do a tropical tank.

Not directed at you Troy. I'm glad to hear you're upgrading that tank soon. My parents have 3 goldfish crammed into a 10g and it just makes me sick that they don't care. You can just tell the fish are suffering if you've ever seen the behavior of larger goldfish. I am currently saving up to get them a 55 gallon. Won't help as the fish are long since stunted. They were stunted before I started the hobby and knew better. But maybe they can live out their days in a better home. Might not be able to get the whole setup until X-mas though since I have extra expenses with our 4th child, born on Friday =). Just I guess a sore spot with me, mainly that they don't care how it makes me feel to look at them when I visit.
