owning 3 chiclids, my electic yelllow is the biggest one i owned, and it grows so fast. when i first got him he was only about 1inches and 1month later hes bout 3.
Now i have 2 more baby chiclids, one a Auratus and a Electric blue, there only less then 1 inch. And seems peacefull now living in their own 20gal long togeather. At first there was fights over areas and all but now its all calmed down, hardly see them fight. Try mixing a few in your thank. 1 of each color is what im going for.
But by far most, i like the electric blue.
Thanks

240 gal... :bowing:
you have a lot of room to work with there... do some research and see what you like
Most cichlids that get big are aggressive. Some of the pike cichlids are not as bad as the midas or flowerhorns. With that big of a tank you could go with several pike cichlids species ( do some research) and a couple of the classic cichlids like the oscars. Tangled up in cichlids is a great place to find unusual cichlids. I would also add a couple smaller catfish (12" range)

I second that, you could get everything from a couple oscars to a ton of smaller fish. Just depends if you want bigger fish or smaller fish of more varieties..

look into the white tip shark catfish, thats what i got, and i lvoe em always swiming around looking for food, and the way they swim around on the floor makes them look like sharks.
White tip shark catfish are actually brackish water fish, so they wouldn't mix very well with the cichlids

yeah i keep mine in freshwater, and there fine.
Sorry, I was a little vague on my comment, they do well in freshwater as youngsters but you need to add salt as they mature

Other Water Parameters Salt should be added in relation to the age of the fish. The older the fish, the more salt, right up to 100% marine. The fish is very tolerate of changes of salinity and will live in freshwater happily as a young fish.

I would personally do a frontosa tank, as I've always wanted one :).

Five years ago I used to have 2 8'' oscars in a 20g long, and they were "fine". Fine is a relative term, and when concerning the health of animals, isn't good enough IMO.
White tipped sharks are brackish as already stated, and the OP doesn't have any fish yet... why tell them it's okay to keep fish in an improper enviroment?
