Well, whenever I put a algae wafer in the tank for the algae eater, my 12 africans will attack it, but they are so small it doesnt fit in their mouth so it looks like they are playing rugby with the wafer b/c they will chase one another around the tank and chip away at the wafer until it is gone...its quite funny to watch imo....what about you guys?

i have a tank with a flower horn cichlid

i got him/her some stem plants (w/c wasn't a good idea off course), well it didn't bother the plant the first day, but next morning.. i was surprised, the cabomba was still planted alright, but it was upside down.. roots on top and its top part buried in the gravel..

i replanted it and caught him in the act of replanting it upside down, it did that only twice though, probably got tired and just shredded the cabomba into pieces (it was a bundle, about 15 stems) :dance2:

My male A. cacatuoides will grab mouthfuls of fry out of the main school, carry them 10in away, drops them, and watches over them just like the female (as if to say, hey this motherhood thing ain't that hard). Only, he gets distracted after about 30 sec and wanders off. The mom then comes over and takes the fry back to the main group. Five minutes later the dad is at it again. Mind you he never actually goes back to check on what happened to the first batch of fry he kidnapped.

I trained my electric catfish to sit in the palm of my hand and even go through rings I made with my hand just for food!!! Sometimes, when he would swim through the ring, I would lightly grip him to remind me what his name is for!! lol!
He died a few months ago   I should have a new one in just a couple weeks, but this one had personality a really trusted and liked me.

I feed my oscars dried krill and the smaller one with grab all the krill at once and pack his mouth so full he has to swim around with it hanging out of his mouth til he works it down.

I trained my severum to eat from my hand so I could pat him and push him around, he is dead now though. but when he was younger he would swim as quick as he could to the filter stream and then stop swimming and get blow back, but he was always upside down. he learnt to do this upside down and hook back down in behind the heater between the sucktion (spl?) caps and then back into the stream, he would do this over and over.

kinda like a planes loop-d-loop a head first dive straight down and pull out of it.

ahh good times

After owning S. American cichlid's for about a year now, i've found they are full of tricks and michief!! I will never be as fond of those common guppys zebras tetras etc ever again!

My oscar will jump out of the water and grab food from my fingers. He is completely safe with a tank full of small feeder fish, too slow and lazy to chase after them. IF they get close to his mouth he tries to gulp one down, but they are too fast for him and he doesn't chase after (now my pictus cats and jack will chase after 'em with a vengance). If Jack tries to mess with him though he lets him know who's boss very quickly. Oscar is the only fish the jack will NOT try and pick on. If I am near the tank whatsoever... Oscar will come to the closest corner of the tank and STARE at me. begging for food.

I know its not a trick.. but the speed these monsters grow is amazing!!! He's outgrown by 3 or 4 times the severum I bought at the same time as him, and is at least 2x the size of the Jack. Very messy fish and requires a lot of maintenance but he is worth it for the entertainment value.

My Jack Dempsey gets irrate for no reason and quickly changes colors and attacks whatever pisses him off... even if its just a rock. He changes colors when I feed him too. He can go from being a very beige base color, to being almost black besides the top band portions on his upper side. I can't keep him with anything besides the oscar, pictus cats and pleco, because he has killed several other cichlids that were bigger than him. He tries to attack the cats sometimes, but they have armour that keeps em protected. He even attacks the gravel vaccuum when I am cleaning the tank.

My severum and blood parrot are amusing as well... top bosses in the community tank, but aren't big enough to inflict any damage whatsoever yet. just bossy.

Very amusing to watch these cichlids claiming territory and making their space their OWN.

My midas/RD will attack my striped rafael, but he doesnt care. He was eating an algae wafer, and my midas/RD picked him up by his pec, but he held onto the wafer, and kept eating. My midas/RD got bored and let him go. He kept eating the whole time.

i think he meant something along the lines of Go F%#& Yourself...

Anyway on the topic, my oscar is a cheeky little bugger, he gets rather pissed with me if i tease him before he gets his food, if i run my finger along the glass he will follow it in any direction. then when i go to feed him he dodges the food and latches onto my finger and wont let go for about a minute or so... :bowing: shows me who's boss.

Blueprint- my fish do that too!! :joke:

I drop the algae wafer in, it sinks to the bottom, one of my swordtails picks it up, they try to carry it off, its too heavy and they drop it, then another fish picks it up, etc., and then they all give up and my kuhli loach and cory cat get it. :)

My pleco will do flips and spins in the water trying to chew on algae tablets. I've been trying to get a good picture of it for a while.

Every now and then, my angelfish will be at absolute opposite ends of the tank, but one will catch a glimpse of the other and go charging full-speed across the whole length of the tank just to chase the other about three inches away. And then they'll hang out together.

My discus can be funny at times too, when he's going after food. Sometimes it'll go for a piece of food and miss, sometimes trying 3 or 4 times before he finally gets it.

I've seen a silver dollar slowly and timidly swim up to the very tip of an angel's anal fin and take a tiny nibble and then DART away really fast.

My guppies will grab onto a big flake of food and swim around the tank like crazy with this huge flake hanging out of their mouth and 3 or 4 other guppies chasing after it, trying to get a bite.

Fish are great! :)

Based on the lower case "p" followed by all caps, it appears he didn't realize caps lock was on.
