Yep, that's right!

We tried to donate good kitchen cookware, and a barely used nice throw rug, and they said "no"... Take it somewhere else, we have too much...

Shoulda scheduled an appointment........

In their defense, I can understand when they don't have the room for some items. They would know what does and doesn't sell, and what they have an overstock of. And they aren't the only charity that has refused items from time to time. Even the food bank will tell you not to donate what they have too much of already.

Maybe try a smaller charity, like a local women's shelter, who may be able to use those items directly (either in the shelter, or to help women set up new lives), rather than selling them through a thrift store.

Yep. I volunteered at a Salvation Army type place one time.

They DO turn stuff away, because they know what does and does not sell. Some stuff would just be taking up room and never sell.

Don't blame it on them really, they have so many donations right now they probably cant think straight.

mishi had a good idea. Take it to a smaller charity. Either that or if you are just determined to get rid of it take it to one of those white Salvation Army drop off boxes, then they cant turn you away :)
