I have SBC Yahoo DSL.

They have been pretty good so far, never really had any problems with them before.

A couple days ago I noticed my speed was REALLY crawling. I knew it wasnt anything on my end, as I have made no changes. So I go to their chat session and tell them about it.

They have me do a speed test. An SBC Yahoo speed test.
Well, turns out I am now running 13.6 kbps.
This is slower than dial up!!!!

I give them the test ID# (I guess they record the speed test so they can look it up). And of course the chat person tells me to call someone else because he has no clue what to do.

So I call them and get someone in India. I give them the reference number, and such. They obviously know something is wrong so they put me on hold.
2 Mins later she comes back on, and tells me that the tests from their end show them that everything is just peachy and running at max speed.

Never mind that the speed test on THEIR website tells differently.

I remind the lady "The speedtest showed I am running 13 kbps".
Her response: "Well, everything looks find from our end so screw you"
OK, OK, she didnt really say that last little bit, but she might have.

SBC Has 3 contact options, chat, phone, or email.
So I try the third option.
I send them an email with my experience and my test ID# again. I also tell them if they do not get this resolved this will go to the Attorney Generals office (A Friend of mine in OR had a run-in with his ISP. The AG office fined his ISP $10,000).

Well so today I come back online and the internet is back to normal speed, and I have an email message from them saying "Well, this issue has been resolved over the Voice Support system".
Whatever that means I have no clue...

Has anyone had problems with SBC before? Or was SBC just plain SLOW the past few days for you? Or are they playing games and cut my bandwidth in half many times over?

My opinion is... They cut your 'speed' until you complain and complain. Some customers just "let it go" and hope it can be fixed later on. I had problems with my server and got techs out several times and went thru 3 modems to "fix the so-called problem". No one knew what was "really" wrong with the slow down... They "fixed" it after we told them to replace the underground cable. They didn't do that, but it was fixed real quick after that.

Another problem was a server misleading "middle-of-the-night" customers when their bandwidth was "re-directed" to businesses only. Of course this re-direction was never mentioned before signing up with them. A friend of mine that had this problem got one of the phone personnel to finally admit the truth of the bad nighttime service.

SBC sucked at first too...they did almost the same sh*t...but when I called in they said we had "bad lines and would need a tech to come and see"....well I just accessed the router and disconnected and reconnected. Then went to fire wall and made sure it was chosen as default network ID....then that was it, worked well after that....oh, and when they first gave us DSL, they crossed lines with a bar so all the calls we got were for a bar.....but it was fun cuz to call home I would just call the bar and get my dad on the line....

BTW Joe how many posts have you really made? ...
I have no idea. GCC posts don't advance the post count...

I own a few forums and know that you can freeze post counts and keep them from advancing, I was just wondering how many you actually had :)
