How fast does a tap water conditioner actually condition? It says on the bottle that it works instantly, but that might mean that it only starts conditioning instantly, but not finishing... Just thought it be good to know!

Instantly. You add it, and as long as it makes contact with all the water it will be fine.

Cool, thats nice to know. Also...if I wanted to swish my sponge, or anything that contains good bacteria, to clean it could I just use tap water thats conditioned and around the same temp as the tank instead of old tank water?

That's what I do. As long as there's no chlorine its fine. Its just cheaper to use old tank water.
