I just finished cycling my tank (72 g) using fishless cycling method. It took me 5 weeks but finally the tank cycled on last weekend.

I just put in 15 platies and they're very active and fine. However, one of the platy spends most of her time near the water surface while the rest of the platies stay aroung the middle of the tank.

Has she developed any problems?

I keep the water surface moving constantly, so I don't think I have any oxygen problem. I test the water and the parameters are good:

0 Ammonia
0 Nitrite
5 Nitrate
Ph 8.0

I'm new to this hobby. Please help.

Thank you so much in advance.

hes just getting use to the tank give him a day or 2

I have a 15gal with 6 platys and two of them occasionally hang near the surface. I've had them for a couple months and they seem perfectly healthy.

It's only the females that do this (I have 4 females and 2 males). I've thought they may be hiding from the rather amorous males. What is your male to female ratio? You should aim for 2 to 3 females per 1 male otherwise your females can be stressed by the males, who think about 2 things, eating and breeding (kinda like human males!) :D
