hello everyone,

Is it fine to boil the gravels to get rid of bacteria causing ich and white spots.
will it be affacting my fishes ?:confused:

not so sure i would......

what kind of gravel? colored i would really be hesitant about. even natural if it is from the store and been coated somehow.

what is the problem? the one you are trying to get rid of? bacterial problems can usually be solved by water changes and vacuuming and ich can be treated just by raising the heat and salt.......

The gravels are peices of marble (white)

Apart from water changing, rising temp and using Malachite green will this kind of procedure help me to get rid of bacteria causing Ich or white spots ?

Ich isn't a kind of bacteria. It's a single-celled protozoan. Knowing its life cycle helps you to eliminate it effectively: www.skepticalaquarist.com in the "Health/Diseases" folder.

Leaving the tank with no fish in it for a week will starve the parasite. Boiling gravel destroys the beneficial bacteria that keep your system "cycled."
