Hi, I have a Fantail Goldfish and she is floating on her back at the top of the tank. I went to the local experts for advice and they think she has "Bloat" and I am using TMT and aquarium salt. I will finish my 2nd cycle of TMT tomorrow and will start another. Does anyone else know of another treatment for my girl???

Thanks, Rachel

swim bladder trouble, possibly from overeating. quit the chemicals and feed peas with the shell taken off. if the fish doesn't want to eat, don't feed for a couple of days until her system clears out a bit. salt seems like a good idea, that helped me once. just don't add any more, and do water changes to get rid of it when the fish is back to normal.

I am new and learning -- so I didn't see it coming. :help:

She is in a 55 gal tank and I have had to about 5 years. The water quality has been super (as of late) and I have 5 other goldfishes (babies). I have isolated them in a smaller tank for now.

She is about 2 years old and about 3 pounds.

She hasn't eaten for 5 days as she is upside down. I have tried feeding her by hand -- no go (used to it). I tried holding her up right in a salt bath -- no eating -- no luck.

Try isolating her into a bucket that has one tbsp per gallon of Epsom salts...Leave her in about 20 mins. Only put enough in to cover her, probably a couple of gallons. It will relieve the bloating and hopefully allow things to take their course. If you can, use a syringe or eyedropper to get a couple of drops of mineral oil down her gullet...You will have to remove her from teh bucket to do this...Use a wet face cloth to hold her. Good luck..If it is constipation, this should do the trick.
