Ok, My tank has been cycling for....I don't remember how long now with some damsels, crabs, and snails. (Nothing overly Valuable) I have decided what I am looking for as far as a tank setup idea. I have a 55gal tank, with a home-built Filtration system (A very marine-Savvy Co-worker built it for me using a 10gal tank as the filter. Very similar to the setup he has on his 80gal reef setup) 30lbs of live rock (I will be ordering about 20lbs more)
I ultimately want to have Lionfish as the feature fish in my tank. (yes I know they are poisonous. I have no problem with "Dangerous Creatures") I am just curious what others would suggest for tank mates for these guys. I am thinking of starting out with a Pair of Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish. and then establishing the tank around them. I have read that they can be peaceful with just about anything that doesn't fit in thier mouths. Also, I do not plan on going overboard with corals or anything like that. I kinda want to keep a mostly Fish-only aquarium, maybe a few Anemones. Suggestions?
Oh, and does anybody know a good place to order feeder shrimp?

Well, the Lionfish are fine my friend, just avoid any tankmates too small (duh) or triggers and puffers which like to nibble on the fins. Other thoughts:
1. Get a quarantine tank now and use it religiously for all new arrivals.
2. I suggest you nix the anemone idea completely; they require special care.
3. Spend some money and get a quality skimmer, you'll need it.
Enjoy your tank, your questions will lead to success.

for tankmates, you could maybe go with a smaller species of trigger (maybe a picasso) and maybe a snowflake moray eel, among other things

a couple of days ago at the LFS, i saw a black volitan lionfish. it was beautiful! if u want to center your tank around a lion, you might want to look for one of these

Well, I wasn't too sure about the volitan because I hear they get pretty big and I do not want to end up cramping such a beautiful fish. Also, how good are marine betta's in a tank with lions? I hear they're a bit of a shy fish and that you kinda have to make sure they get food before other fish eat it all, but I think they are a gorgeous fish. just want to make sure before I invest in one because they are a bit expensive.
As for the protien skimmer, I have one already running. I think I forgot to mention that in the orriginal post. Not sure what brand (ebay special) but it's one that's meant for tanks up to 75 gal.
Also, are there any plant-like, or coral things that don't require a ridiculous amount of lighting that I could put in the tank to kind of "pretty things up" whithout investing alot of money (and electricity) in super high-powered lighting. Or would I be better off just getting some marine-safe fake plants?
