Can I urinate in my tank?

hello..

ur urine has ammonia, but urine is not pure ammonia.. there are also other elements in there that may be harmful

dat's wat i think

I believe human urine contains urea but no ammonia so I don't think it would work. Not to mention the gross factor! I've actually seen this discussed in several threads! I'd stick to ammonia or a cooked shrimp or fish food to get your cycle going.

Urea contains nitrogen, just as ammonia does. Either can be used for introducing nitrogen to the aquarium. The problem will be determining titers, and determining the impact of the salts also excreted. In short, yes, you can, but it's really not the prefered method.

Unless you REALLY gotta go!

People think you are crazy for asking this, but I've actually had someone at the LFS tell me this before while discussing a fishless cycle. I told him no thank you, I'll just go with the bio-spira.

I would be afraid of the smell after a while, You would have to continue to pee in it for several weeks to keep things going... It would be like a big unflushed toilet EWWWW
