I want to up grade my lighting on my 15gal from the 15watt bulb it has now. I thought of replacing the my lighting fixture i have now with one tha tholds 2 bulbs but the 2 bulb fixture costs 80$can.

I saw in big als that they have a glo mat ballast kit(20watts) the is only 33$. But i don't know how these work. how do you install them, they jsut look like end caps.

Does anyone own these, as i have never seen them and don't really know what they are or look like(besides what the pic on teh box looks like:D )

What the kit is, is a ballast, end-caps and lamp clips as you noticed. Basically all you have to do is put a bulb in the endcaps and plug in the ballast. The lamp clips will screw into your hood to hold the bulbs.

The ballast looks the same as it does on the box (rectangular black box) and sits somewhere near your tank.

Here is a picture of what the look like installed
they are just end caps and clips and a transformer they work great. Both Superpet and Aquarium Allusions has them and they are all within a couple of buck of each other for price, Big Al's has the same price also.:D

The transformers are on the back of the light hood. I have 2 glo-mat2-40's in the picture.

well thanks for the replies. Turns out i don't have enough room in my existing fixture for another light. I measured and jsut the way the lighting is already installed is like they try to take up as much room as possible :p Oh well, I guess i'll jsut get the double bulb fixture. With the aquarium club discount at bigals it shouldn't be too bad, plus i would get more watts.

I was thinking about buying one of these kits a few weeks ago, now that I think about it I probably should have bought it. I ended up getting a couple of striplights from Building Box(HD look-alike) and it was cheaper, but now I have to mess around with the wiring.
