I just bought a python. It's great. Only one problem. The water that comes out of my cold faucet is 85 degrees f. How do I match it to the 78 degrees that my tanks are? Suggestions? thanks!

Then that would not be using a python!! LOL! Can you adjust your water holder/tank, whatever it is in your house? How big are the tanks? If it only makes the tank water vary by a degree or two when you do a water change its probably not a big deal. For instance, I have a pretty large tank so I would have to use a really different temp. to cause it to fluctuate much from a water change.

Holly are you on a well? Is that the reason for the tank question, if so then size varies by who installed it (there is no standard). If your holding tank is getting that hot then you may want to check your pump house and insulate it. There is no reason why you should have cold water coming out of your faucet at that temp.

I also have that problem :help:
The water that comes out of my cold pipe raises the temp of my tank by 2 degrees just replacing 3 gallons

Hi! I'm in sunny (and freakin' hot - lol) Tucson, Arizona. My tap water is almost HOT in the summer! When I do my weekly water change I put cups of ice in the water bucket. When the cubes melt, I pour it in the tank. This works well and keeps my tank between 78 and 80 degrees.

I wonder... could I put ice in the tank as I fill it with the python?

If you can get some extra tubing you can run a significant length of it through a bucket of ice water. This should cool down the water enough (depending on how much tubing you have in ice).

If you put ice in the tank, make sure you condition the water before you freeze it or put the ice in a ziplock.
