I just gave my 4 inch midas a pinkie, and he went nuts over it. At first he was scared of it, but then i fed him the tail I ripped off (it was a frozen/thawed) in his feeding corner. He liked it, so when i dropped the whole thing in, he played with it then attacked it, and finally strated trying to eat it.
He LOVED IT. Would one every couple a weeks be ok?
