pure white vinegar works well. There is also a product called lime off or lime away or some such thing..don't recall.
i have been told never to uwe any cleaning agent on the glass. It was recommended to me to use a razor blade, and that works really well. If you are eusing anything, rinse, rinse, rinse, and dry very well.
apparently, unsweetened lemon kool-aid mixed with a little water to make a paste works really well. it's very acidic and gets rid of the build-up without being dangerous to fish.
