i want to knoow if there is anything wrong with that because i think it would just give the tank a stronger light. Any comments?

Depends on what bulb you are talking about

I use the Dual Daylight Sunpaq lights for my freshwater aquariums and the plants seem to enjoy them. I use 130 watts for one 20 gallon tank. I replace the actinic bulbs that came with the fixture because they are a very narrow spectrum that is really tailored to specific types of organisms (i.e. corral life). It definetly won't hurt the freshwater plants, but you will probably get better results if you just increase the wattage.

I'm not expert, but from all of the reading I have done... as long as you are in the 5000K to 10000K range and around 3-4 watts per gallon, you should be fine.

I had no problem in the past using reef bulbs, When my lfs was out of freshwater bulbs and had only reef bulbs it just cost more.
