Hey all. I found a worm in my tank today...no fish yet. Probably hitched a ride in the filter squeezings I used to seed my tank. I was wondering what it was. It was small, about 4mm in size. Very whispy...almost looked like a strand of fish poo except it was moving on its own. It was also pinkish in color. I want to say that it was a tubifex worm (mostly because that means it's probably no big deal). I couldn't find any images on-line to compare it to, though. Any thoughts, anyone?

Thanks!

I can't really describe it's moving pattern. It was getting knocked around by the current from my filter. I'm not sure it even got a chance to settle on the bottom. It was kind of flailing around and twisting over itself, almost like tying itself into a knot. I saw a few more (2 more, actually) in the next few hours, then no more. I even checked at night when most worms are active and no little guys were present.....weird.

In my betta tank, I had little white worms that liked to ‘rest’ just above the water line at the rim where I couldn’t see them, I guess they still kept damp there… Anyhow, I’d take a (new) eyedropper, fill it with water from the tank and flush them down. The bettas would wait and devour them. I think I did it too much and eradicated them; haven’t had any more in months.
