What are weekend feeders going to do to my fish?

I am at college right now and I have a small fishtank and I have had to leave for three days to come back home for the last two weekends. I have put the weekend feeder tablets in my tank and my fish seem to be doing fine, but I have to go away this coming weekend also. Are the tablets going to have a long term effect? They look like they have almost no protein while the normal food I give them has 30-40% protein. My lid doesn't allow for a battery powered feeder either. Any imput or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

It's fine to leave your fish without food for the weekend. Honest, don't worry about it unless they are fry. I've saw those weekend feeders in LFS but haven't paid much attention to them. Basically, unless you can control what's going in your tank, it's not worth messing with.

Yea, dont feed the fish. Nearly all fish (with the exceptions of a few rare fish or fry) can go at least a week without food. Two to three days is no problem at all.

I used one of those feeders with my old 10 Gallon. Seemed to work fine at the time. A few days later I checked my water and saw that my ammonia was spiked! Thats how I came to know and love live plants in my aquarium.

what fishes do u have?

i think i agree with the others here to not feed ur fish during weekends.. they should be fine :dive2:

I givem a good healthy feeding b4 leaveing or my shark comes out & digs up small plants, searching for small fry.The feeder was made buy a young child who has the copywrite on it ,so little development.they feed fine when you set them but gradualy feed more & more as it emptys & sometimes the digital setting goes whacky from low batterys.Such a hassle. They can dump huge amounts of food in tanks. Ive come back to find a small pile & fish looking @ me like (R U reTARDed or just stupid) :sim: :sim:

are those the shells-shaped weekend feeders you're using? the ones that dissolve and slowly release bits of food? i think they can screw with your Ph a lot. it's better just to not feed, or have measured amounts of food in little baggies that your roommate or a friend can feed your fish with.
