Help!!!! Starting My Reef

Just Started setting up my marine aquarium YAY!!!

AT the moment i have a 150 lt tank, heater, Weipro power head 1200lt per hour, Weipro Cannister Filter does 2140 lt per hour, fluro light, skimming attachment for cannister.

I plan to put in:
20/30 kilograms of coral sand
15 kilograms of live rock
2 percula clown fish
4 blue Chromis
possibly 1 flame hawkfish

Corals:
not sure really what kind of corals i should keep. I was thinking some Coral morphs, mainly because they need low lvl lighting and the clowns will use it as a host.

I am collecting my sea water from the beach, i am using buckets and pouring the water through a funnel and through stockings to filter it.

Is what i have posted all good???

Some pics of my equiptment.

you don´t need to buy coral sand that is live, normal sand if fine because it will become live verey quickley. 7 fish is too many for that system and you need to lessen your fish list to like 5 tops. I know it sounds bad but if you are keen on doing water changes then it will be fine with more fish, just get as much live rock as possible and be prepared to change water every week.

good luck!

Yeah i was planning on doing a water change every week, So i shouldn't worry about getting coral sand or anything like that, just the normal beach sand.

yea, just get the sand that you like. A factor you could keep in mind is that some help to raise the PH

Well i bought some coral sand and my tank is now cycling, i got bout 70 lbs of coral sand in there i got it really cheap aswell, it was $1.60 australian dollars per kilo. The lfs undercharged me though and i got the 33kg for $43 australian dollars.

How much is an aussie dollar compared to an american dollar? sounds like you got a pretty good deal... I think

I look forward to watching your tank progress, I've always wanted to go to australia but 16hours on a plane sound really really boring....

Anyway, for right now, watching your tank progress will be good for me,

Got and pictures of some dingos? :hang:

LOL....

mysis, where is australia do u live?? I live in perth.

Hey sweet me 2, I live in an area called edgewater, i am close to joondalup, hope to hear off you oliver (you may have heard of that), i will keep posting my progress on the site and keep you informed.

the coral sand cost me $32.50 American dollars

I am getting some live rock which is base rock and costing $4.90 american dollars for 2.2 lbs of live rock.

$24.50 american dollars for 10lbs of base live rock. Is that cheap???

Nope. My lfs has base rock for $1.40 per lb... I just got 5lbs for $5 to frag corals onto.
