I have a 24" piece of driftwood that i'm trying to think of the best way to get it to sink... Right now all I can think of is put it in a bath tub, put something heavy on it, and fill it up with hot water. Anything else I can do?
That is about all you can do, the more hot water the quicker it will water log. Or if you can attach it to some heavy rocks , put it straight into your tank and let time do its job, your water may turn a little brown with the tannins but I like that look. Anyway goodluck.
I drilled some holes in a 20-inch piece of driftwood and fastened it to a vertical wall with suction cups. Not an easy project, but interesting if you can get it to work.
Not all wood will sink. It doesn't matter what you do to the wood, it will still have the same positive buoyancy. Once all the air is removed from the wood via boiling, there really is nothing else you can do after that. If the density of the wood is less than the density of water, the wood it will float. You can add weights and that's about it.
