So I lurk a bit. I'll read over posts to see if i can gain any new tips, knowledge etc. There is not much here in this link most of you don't already know, and it's kind of long, but read it. I was amazed at the common sense, and willingness to learn, not to mention the thoroughness, of the original poster. Then there were the polite, informative resonses from lerned folks here. When i got to the part where the gal got the 5 in 1 test strips, no one said "those things are crap" or anything. It was "when those run out, go get x product". It was then I thought this was simply a fake write up by the mods of how things should go on a perfect forrum.

I want to take a creative writeing class from the "mods" if they indeed did write that.
Anyway, I don't see why people here behaveing in a helpfull and civil way would be called fake. Antagonistic people don't frequent this board, unlike the turmoil rumored to boil over some at some places.

No offence Sumthin fishy, but I think the mods have better things to do with their time. Again please don't think I am being rude. :)

Good solid discussions happen every once in awhile. I wish they happened more, means I get a break.

/\ That's why I posted it right there /\
And ash, I don't think your being rude, and that part about them writting it was a joke. There are a lot of very nice and helpful people here, but i seems like the responders here went the extra mile's all.

Whew, that one almost snuck by me, thanks for pointing it out. I made sure to follow the link so I could call the OP a n00b, ridicule his tank choice, call his test strips crap and insult his mother. I feel my job here is done for the day, again, thanks for binging this to my attention.
For the record, before I stopped posting and reading in the fish forums with any regularity, I busted my butt researching, writing and investigating for total strangers on the internet. I only sniped at the trolls (because hey, who doesn't like a good troll now and again anyway?) and people that were stubbornly ignorant, and even then, I was mostly polite. I know MANY if not most of the regulars here at AC bust their humps trying to help others, so really, your snide remark about it being a fake writeup by the mods is just as insulting to those folks as someone saying that guys test strips are crap. Have a nice day.

My appologies Harlock, that was not my intention at all. (Mabey I should have used more smileys?) I never said no one helps out. There are many folks who clearly do a whole bunch to help folks out(you included). The reason I pointed this one out though is the folks who usually do this
"ridicule his tank choice, call his test strips crap and insult his mother" Did not bother to comment. Slip obviouly got my message and was able to see through what may have been hourmor in bad taste, so to me it was still worth the post.

Sumethin fishy I find this post so ironic, cause from what I understand, all you were doing was just trying to compliment the members of this forum by saying how smooth such a post was going, and people took your post the wrong way and are almost trashing you for it. . .
pretty funny. . . but all good.. . :)

You got a lucky one...no trolls, and no people responding that want to give one line answers...good to see it happens something.

Although my contribution to that thread was minor, I feel obligated to help people now. When I first joined I was so clueless, and ready to tear down my 35g tank and sell it (seriously, I was about 2 days away from doing that!!). Then I got all sorts of good advice from posting/lurking and have since moved on to a 180g tank, and have convinced my husband(I think :D ) that when we ever move/build we need to have a bigger tank put into the wall :D !!!
I have noticed since I've been here that the number of helpful folks almost always outweighs the idiots :D

Yes, if you are passing along a compliment, don't beat around the bush with it.
I am impressed on a daily basis by the helpfulness and information passed on by people on this site.

OK!! Then what i meant to say is YAY TEAM!!!
A lot of the times I don't feel I have sufficient knowledge to answer the questions completely, but I try to help when I can. So, I am guilty of the oneliners, and non-helpful comments from time to time.
The reason I pointed this one out though is the folks who usually do this

Guess I better comment so I don't get lumped with the "your test strips are crap, you pick lousy tanks...and your mother dresses you funny" crowd..... :D

In retrospect, I wouldn't call it a good joke. No hard feelings here, and i hope no where else too.

O hell yes I mean it. I like trolls, honest to goodness. The good ones are something of a thing of art. The problem is that so many are poor. I am a huge fan of satire and good trolls are really the modern day equivalents Voltaire or Swift. Bad trolls are just, you know, stupid. But, a good one is really so subtle 99% of forum readers never even catch it.
