OK check it out i have two moonlight gouramis and two corey cats both of which like soft and acidic water exact readings are Gouramis like soft (50mg/l) and acidic (ph 6.0-6.5) corey cats like just about the same. My water readings are Total Hardness 300ppm and alkalinity about 40 to 80 ppm and ph about 7.4. What should i do and how should i compare ppm to mg/l. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH im so frustrated... :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

Your Ph is fine! Don't do anything. A stable Ph is way more important than perfectly matching the "suggested" parameters. My Ph is 7.8 and my gouramis and cories are healthy and happy. :) I can't answer your question about the conversion but I'm sure someone here can.

I'm no expert (not by a long shot) but in the process of shopping around for fish that I might want for my tank I came across the moonlight gourami. So, I looked it up on the species profile here (just like I did for the other 30 or so secies I was looking at) and you can read it here:

I'm not sure how accurate the species profile is on this site but, for the most part, it seems to mesh well with what other sources say about the fish.
