Would a homemade wetdry filter being powered by a 600gph pump be sufficient for a 75 gal tank. The wetdry is in a 10gal tank. I will have a few JD's in the tank. What do you think?

You might want to get a bigger sump aquarium - less risk of a flood :( when you are doing water changes and maintenance. It would also allow you to have more space for biomedia also.
You would be turning over the same amount of water that I am - and I have crystal clear water. However I don't have any Jack Dempsey's, just tetras, gouramis, plants, etc. in my tank. I'm sure that someone with bigger fishes than I have will chime in on the gph.

I think i'm gonna stick with the 10gal. I'm going to have two buckets of bio balls raised in the tank. And I think i will put it all inside a big rubbermaid bin so if it does overflow, I will have a little time to stop it.
