View Full Version : Moon light in a fresh water tank?
I just ordered an L.E.D. blue moonlight strip to put under my glass top. Anyone else use a moon light?
I assume it doesn't affect the fish, and I bet it looks cool at night.

interesting but you raise fish afraid o the dark do you plug it in because if the power goes out the fish will think its the end after getting used to a nightlight.

I have it on my tank and my fish love it. As a matter of fact they became more active during the day after they had the moonlight at night. It gives a cool effect and you can see your fish playing at night. Just make sure to not saturate your tank with the moon light and give them places to hide if they do not want the light. I have sold numerous systems to both salt and fresh water people and they all love them.
how much do you sell the kit for jericho?

When I was building them I would sell a nine light system set up in three fixtures of three LED' per fixture (total of 9 lights). I built everything and would sell them for $30 plus shipping, all you had to do was plug them in and place them ;) I would make the fixtures out of lexan, but I have not built one in a while.

You can get kits from companies such as Current USA (http://www.current-usa.com/products/lunarlights.html) or Coralife (http://www.esuweb.com/cardfile.asp?ItemNumber=53401&IDProductRelationship=258).
I have lunar lights on my Birthday/Christmas wish list for my freshwater tank.
Here's where I got mine from.

I choose the submersible LED 20" strip. It comes with suction cups so I plan on putting it on the underside of the glass hood. Can't wait to see what it looks like.
