well, you're talking a little over 6 and a half gallons which is rather small..... what exactly did you treat the water with? Have you read the "cycle" sticky at the top of this forum?
I believe Aquasafe is a conditioner for the water, please correct me if I am wrong. Have you looked at the cycle sticky at the top of this forum? You'll need to decide whether you want to go with fishy or fishless cycling. A lot of people prefer fishless as no harm becomes of the fish and unnecessary deaths are avoidable. If you're having trouble locating the sticky, http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5927
right i want to do a fishless cycle , ive read the stickies but they get me confused , please can some one tell me here how i go about doin a fishless cycle , step by step , i would very much apprecaite it ..
Ammonia will read 0 until you add some to get the cycle going ... If you find the cycling article on here hard to follow, you might try a google search and see if you can find one that is a little easier to follow
First things first..... In order to get the fishless cycle going, you need a source of ammonia. You need to add a coupke capfuls of liquid ammonia that you get from the store (probably a store like Walmart). You must bring the ammonia level up to 5 ppm. You will test the tank daily to see that this levels stays at 5 ppm. When you begin to notice that the ppm's are dropping within a 24-hour period, that's when you may be at the end of the cycle. My tanks took 6 weeks to the day.
