looks like im going to have another shot at crossbreeding my dovii, jag again..the last time they have half the eggs were fertile, but she ended up eating them..i have a plan this time and wondering if you all think it might work?they are being breed through a devider ..the last time she laid eggs on the flat rock thats in between the devider..this time im thinking if she lays the eggs again on the rock and if its fertile..im gonna remove the flat rock and put it in a breeding nest...you all think this might work? after the eggs are fertile does it need anymore fertiling from either of them ? also..what can i do to help her lay the eggs? i've raised the temp from 80 to 82..she's got a belly full ready to go..

whoa..calm down dude..there wont be any crucifying here..its not my fault they paired up from when they were juvi's..maybe you should go crucify all those owners of horny convicts and guppys out there before you talk crap about me and my fish.if you dont have a resonable aquatic reply then dont post back..sheesh...

Yeah, convicts and guppies huh? your a bright one. Maybe not your fault they paired up but you sure as heck can make sure they don't produce offspring, highly doubt ya have a tank large enough to house and adult dovii anyhow, like you would care.

Carry on in your ignorant bliss though.

yeah..convicts and guppys...if you get me there mr bright guy,..im not just some dumbass going into a fish store and buying whatever..i do know my facts..so excuse me for asking advices..like i said if you dont have any aquatic advice for me..then go crucify someone else...this is a forum for questions and answers about fishes.

If you knew what you were doing you would not have been keeping a fish with the nastiest temperment around and the full capability to attain 30" with a fish that has a much milder temperment and doesn't even get half the size.

Let alone asking about what to when they spawn. Get a clue man, got a 500-800gal tank just fot the happy couple? As to your insinuation that guppies and convicts regularly cross with other fish, get that shovel out and start diggin for some proof.

did i say guppies and convicts Regulary cross with others??you're saying the chances of having a jag/dovii pair up is easier than to have a guppy or convict with something else??look man.not everyone that comes on fish forums and ask about Doviis or Jags is as dumb as you assume they are.and dont even start with the tank space crap with me..you dont know my history with keeping fishes.and yes i do know what im doing..and thats why im able to keep a fish with the most nastiest temperment.

yea me ignorant??..if im so ignorant..then why do i have all the proper tank/pond size care for it??and all you do is already assume that i dont, before even asking??you're the ignorant one here. why dont you go on and use your ignorance to other peoples post..make sure you crucify them as you wanted me to..

Just because you are a newbie to the forms doesn't mean you are a newbie aquarist. "purists" don't like hibreds because usually they are heavely disfigured. most fry need to be culled. I am not aginst hybrabizing and ADVANCING in the hobby. jaguars are some of my faverate cichlids. At the store there is one almost 2 foot long and completely turquise exept for the upper-curved dotted line that I am think ing about getting. Its a cross between a texas and a jaguar. I have not followed your dovii threads because I have no awnser on those. how big are the parents? also, about removimg the eggs, it is dfifficult to get a good fry hatching rate. also the best thing about breeding is whaching parents raise them. they will eat them at first, it is only natural, but how are they going to learn to correctly care for the eggs if you take them away. as long as the conditions are the same, a mated pare will breed agian. I thing they will look great like jaguars and grow very large like the dovii. Take some of the realy exeptional fry and find a very nicely colored turquise texas and maybe you could end up with a bach of turquises!!
