My Italian Vallisneria has multiple runners. What concerns or advice are there for propogating this plant?

I cut off the runners as close to the plants as possible then just replant.

In nature, they are never cut and the do continue to grow. I suggest only cutting to rearrange the garden or cultivate more growth.

But if you do not trim the runners back periodically, you will have one solid mass of Val filling the tank.

Correct. Some folks like the jungle look. It's your decision! I was just giving you options.

I want to place some of the Val on the opposite side of the tank. I put this plant in my tank probably more than two months ago. For the longest time it did nothing. Over the past two weeks it has spread runners and new plants like crazy. Its easy to see how it could take over your tank. I don't mind a little of the jungle look but I still want to be able to have a clear view of my crypts! Thanks for all the replies.
