It's best if you don't have other fish in the tank with them....though it is possible to have other fish in the tank if you remove the eggs after they are layed.

Rams are egg layers. They will both guard the eggs and the fry after they hatch. My experience has been that they will guard them for awhile after they become free swimming, but will most likely end up eating them at some point...at least that's what mine do. If you want to bring a batch up to maturity your best bet would be to remove the eggs or wait until the eggs hatch and then remove the fry while they are still squiggling around and can't really go anywhere...lol...it would be hard to chase them down once they begin swimming around. I would wait for the eggs to hatch because the parents pick off the bad ones and you won't likely have an issue with fungus that way.

Have a tank setup and cycled for the fry. A fry tank doesn't need any gravel on the bottom, it's better if you don't have any. I just put gravel in a nylon bag and set that in as a home for good bacteria. A seeded sponge filter will be good for filtration...and an airstone as well. A good temp for raising the fry would be at least 80F.

They don't need to eat until they become free swimming. Feed them baby brine shrimp or a powdered fry food. The shrimp will have to be very small so you'll have to hatch your own. I fed mine the bbs at first and then fed them on a powdered fry food...and micro pellets when they became large enough for those.

Best to you in your efforts !
