I seen a mixed fruit tetra or a fruit tetra or sumthing like that can i have a little bit of info on how to raise these or sumthin i seen them 1 time and they are some beautiful fish i was thinking about getting some for my new fish tank afetr everything is cycled. The 1 that is saw was a blue. 1 question i have is do they have to be in a large group because they are some expensive fish down here. :duh:

they are pretty fish but i would not want to support osmeone who does fish that way

I would not reccomend getting these fish. They are commonly labeled as the fruit salad/fruit tetra. They are dyed and there colors will fade away until they are a really lght (ugly imo) pastel color, or they turn back to a clear silverish color. I have some in my tank that are around 5 or 6 years old, all there color has faded and now they are well ugly. Find you some other pretty colored fish that are not dyed. This is not a humane practice imo for the fish, had i known when i bought mine they were dyed i would not have purchased them. They are not worht spending big bucks over, don't support the practice of dyeing fish by buying them. There are lots of other very pretty fish that are all natural. Have a great day!!

Fruit tetra are actually white or black skirt tetra. Some are dyed with needles and that is pure torture, but some are dyed with dyed food and they are not affected at all. Sometimes the fruit tetra will keep their color their whole lifespan, but not always. If you like the look of black skirt tetras you could get some of those or get the fruits and hope they don't fade. If you know for sure that they were dyed with needles I wouldn't buy them. About the group you should get 3 or more- they get to be about 3inches once fully grown.
