Brooding about what kind of fish to keep in my new 75gal wallmount tank... considering discus. I've kept reef tanks up til now, and i'm going to try to get in to freshwater.

My question is what kind of equipment do I need to get started with a planted discus tank? Do I add plants first? Do I need CO2 or whatnot? What kind of lighting for plants/discus? Sump or no sump, etc?

Any advice or links to good articles would be appreciated greatly. (i've read a couple on here and a few I googled, but none really talk about the plants part of things).

Thanks!

Set the tank up around the tempature the discus will need. That will be your real only limited factor. The discus won't care about lighting and anything else really.

Doing a planted tank, I would suggest getting adult fish. That way you don't have to try to grow them out in there, and they generally are much more tollerant of varying water conditions.

Min water temp for the adults I would reccomend is 83-84, contrarty to popular belife however, MOST plants will be fine in those water temps.
