I am savin all my money and doing anything i can around that neighborhood to raise money how much do u guys think that a 55 gal would cost i have checked walmart .com but they do not have them online if 1 of oyu guys have been to walmart recently do u think you could tell me the usual cost of them. :hi:

What is the stuff that helps speed up the cycleing? I am looking at all my old post trying to figure it out.

If you are talking about a walmart aquarium kit then my store has them just under 200. They are alot cheaper than buying hood, light, filter, heater, tank, ect. separatly though. There are several products that speed up cycling such as "cycle" and "bio-spira" Good luck in getting and setting up your tank! :-)

The Wally World in Maine ( Scarborough) has 55 gals for 158 bucks. Full hood, Hydor 100w heater and a crappy aquatech filter included. It is a great deal if you ask me. Would highly recommend upgrading the filter though.

The stand is 76 bucks if you do not have one.

Do i have to have a stand?

This setup will be around 600 lbs??? Well anywhere from 450- 600 lbs.

You definatley need a sturdy place to put this thing on.
You can make a cheapie buy using cindeblocks and maybe a solid plank to lay across from them

So you have something else to put it on, keep in mind that it will way close to 600 pounds when it is full of water. An aqurium rated stand is the best choice to make sure you dont come home one day and find your tank and water with all its occupants on the floor. If you are going to work so hard to get the aquariu, have a few more patience and save for a good sturdy stand as well. By the way, I would not waste my money on a stand from walmart. I had one and it lasted about 8 months b4 i had to replace it because it was starting to wobble with my 30 gallon tank on it (floor was level). You can find a much sturdier on for around 100 dollars, or maybe get soemone to build you one cheaper than that. Good Luck!!

would it be a good idea to get 1 off ebay?

I think it is about 8.3 lbs per gallon in a tank, and this just could be the water.

Depending on the fish most setups you use 1.5 lbs of gravel per gal in the tank. gravel and the tank will be over 100 lbs without any water in the tank
