Disappearing tetras?

So far I'd say I have about a 50/50 chance of finding neons when they've died... sometimes I'll find them hung up in the plants, or sometimes stuck to the filter intake, but quite often I simply don't find them at all.

I'm guessing the other (bigger) fish eat the dead neons, but I'd think there'd be at least a little bit of a carcass left.

I have had 4 neons die and I have found all the bodies. Then again, most of th fish I keep are small. The only thing missing on all 4 were the eyes.

A couple of my neons died within a day and I searched the tank, no body found at all. I don't even have any bigger fish that could have eaten the bodies (I only have minnows and tetras in that tank so I doubt those small fish could have eaten them, especially within one day.)

sometimes if the noens are small enough they can get sucked into your intake ..and become part of the whole biolocigal cycle, and yes they could have eaten them as well, but i am sorry to hear about your loss, did you find out atleast what is killing them? ie:water quality , new fish ..ect ect ?
