i noticed a few days ago that my black moor had scratched the top of his eye, not the clear part, but right up near his head. looks like the skin got peeled off in a tiny strip like this long l--l and it's silver underneath. today, after being gone since sunday, it looks like there is blood inside of his eye. it's a very bright red spot at the bottom of the eye bubble. not flat, but a 3-D rounded shape, as i can see it protruding into the bulge of the eye when he is facing me. he's not having any other problems or rubbing on anything like it's bothering him, but i wanted to see if there was anything i could/should do or if this is a common problem with big-eyed fish.

bump, because it looks really creepy

Only thing I can think of is maybe popeye, or maybe he just hurt himself. Look around for info on popeye disease, sorry I can't help more :(

I don't know if it would be a good idea, but if it looks like an open wound, maybe some sort of med. to keep it from getting infected?? I would say water changes are the best bet, just to keep everything nice and clean

my black moores eye "splits" every 2-3 months now... it doesnt seem to become infected, it just seems to be growing to fast and needs more room or something... looks ugly when it happens but it heals within about a week and doesnt seem to bother her.
