I've tried a few of the easy plants (java fern ,vals, sag) in low brackish. It never worked out though.

Try Cryptocoryne balansae, pondeterifolia (spelling questionable), and ciliata. Onion bulb, some giant Val and others. Also post the water quality levels (ph, hardness, etc) so that others may comment.
