As some of you may know, I play in a tribute band. We've just undergone a bit of a re-branding excercise. Our new website is here (http://www.altereagles.co.uk).
You can find out info and listen to a few versions of our songs.
I would appreciate any comments and suggestions from any web designers, musicians, Eagles fans or anyone who just happens to be passing!!! Call it market research, if you will.
Any other musos on the site?
Took some time to download, but you guys sound great! You've got to tell me who sings Hotel California. Sounds excellent, and the guitar solo at the end was awesome. (I always hated when radio stations cut off the ending!)
Now, just out of curiousity...do you guys ever get the urge to play other classic rock, or do you really love the Eagles that much?
If you guys came near my neck of the woods, I'd go see ya!

I agree, it does sound great!! I have broadband though so the download was maybe 3 - 5 seconds tops, not bad at all.

It would be interesting to hear a jam session between cattlegrid's buds and Dangerdoll's friends. They could make a recording called the Dead Eagle Sessions.

Out of curiosity and as a fellow musician, what's the motivation behind being in a tribute band? Do you ever get tired of playing covers? I mean, I know some musicians who get tired of playing their own songs, so the concept of a tribute band has always sort of baffled me.

Oddly enough, the first time that I read the subject before reading the post, I thought "Hell no; go STEELERS!" :)

Yeah! I LOVE the Eagles!
By far one of my favorites!
... can't say I listened to them "back in the day" lol... but for the 19 years I've been here I've listened to them lots :)

I just listened to your group and.... WOW!
Excellent job! :)

Cheers for your nice comments anyway. Yeah that's me on the lead vocals. It's kinda hard being an English guy and trying to take off four different Americans on lead vocals. So I thought I'd ask the experts across the pond.
Harlock, it's a good question. This band was always set up as a "project". I have played in other bands where we play original material and a wide range of covers. But there is quite a big tribute market over here at the moment and even more so in the rest of Europe. We keep it interesting by adding new songs all the time and rotating the set list. We're lucky that the Eagles wrote so many good songs!
It's so difficult to "make it" or even earn any money from playing original material. This is kind of an easier way to earn and possibly become a pro player. Unfortunately, and probably more worryingly, at 26 I'm too old for Pop Idol and that's all that sells in the charts nowadays!
The musicianship is awesome as between us we can play guitars, bass, drums, keys, pedal steel, banjo, mandolin and Col even plays a MIDI guitar so we have a live string section! Of course we also have 5 part vocal harmonies. It gives it a very authentic sound and we contentrate very hard on keeping it as close to the record as possible.
We've never been really happy with our studio results and I don't think those tracks on the site do our live sound justice.
p.s. Not being from the US, I never twigged about the Philadelphia Eagles reference in the title. Sorry to offend all the Steelers fans! Always been a 49ers follower myself!
Cattle, all the best to you and your band ! You picked a great group to "tribute" ! ;)

Thanks, Cattlegrid. I didn't realize there was such a big tribute market. May as well cash in. 26 isn't too old to make it. It sort of depends on what kind of music you are doing more than anything. I don't pay attention to the charts and never have. Anyway, I know quite a few folks who have made it, even some success on the pop scene at that age or later. Best of luck to you.
Oh, As a PS, keep doing your own writing. With the Country and Western scene being dominated from time to time with crossover, Nashville looks for folks who can play rock and roll witha country flair, much like the Eagles pulled off. After all, didn;t they start out as a back up band for Linda Ronstadt? There is a market for all kinds of music, you just have to find it, or sometimes force your way in. Examples of that happening abound in the industry. So, to borrow a phrase from the 70s, the Eagles' heyday, Keep on truckin'!
