Hi,

I have a 15 gallon tank right now that seems to be a death chamber for any fish I introduce. It started out with ick and progressed to a bacterial infection (as far as I can gather). I cleared up the ick and introduced 2 kissers, 3 blue botias and 3 coolie loaches. I'm down to 1 kisser and 2 botias. I would like to start fresh with that tank. Is there some kind of disinfectant I can use without having to start again and re-cycle the tank?

Please help!

Now others please correct me if i am wrong but...
why not run the tank with salt and heat for 2-3 weeks to make sure the ick is gone for good. Then do a large water change.
Healthy fish should be able to fight off a lot of bacteria - but like you said yours were probably weakened from the ick.
Or you just tear everything down and desinfect - do a fishless cycle (which might take 4-6 weeks).

Well, I'm not familiar with the botias, but the kissers (if you mean kissing gouramis) are not a good choice for the tank size you have. They can get up to a foot long and should not be kept in anything smaller than at least 50 gallons. check out the species profiles on here for some fish that would be more appropriate for your tank size :)

I could be wrong but I think blue botias grow up to 12in. Way to big for your tank also. I think the kuhli loaches are ok for a 15.
