Hi

Asking the question on behalf of my dad. He has a tank which although seems healthy (on water tests etc) the tank gets very milky/cloudy after feeding. Ok it sounds like overfeeding or something but i have checked what he feeds and is well below the overfeeding stage.
He has tried doing small water changed daily.
Tried keeping the light turned off.
The filter seems to work. (infact we tried with 2 filters for a while, 2nd one being a small one that i used recently in a second small tank)
All the wood and rock in the tank have been used in one of his other tanks.
His other tank is perfectly clear using the same water during changes.
He is definately not overstocked.
I have done several tests on the water and come out ok. Nitrite and Nitrite is slightly above normal but nothing to worry about at the moment (cant remeber the exact numbers)
Is the same food i use (bought in bulk)

Any help on this would be hratefully received.

How long has the tank been set up? If you are getting readings on nitrite, either the tank isn't cycled or there is something going on in there. It sounds almost like a bacteria bloom but I've never heard of it happening after feeding like that. Does it happen everytime he feeds? What kind of fish does he have?
Also, what kind of filter? How big is the tank? What kind of tests are you using? (the liquid are much better than strips)

Hi

The tank is recycled. It is around 6 months old. Fish include corydoras, clown loach, Neon Tetras, Honey Gouramis and a Plec. Oh and 2 swordfish. Tank is around 40g i think so is understocked.
I use liquid tests, can't remember the manufacturer off the top of my head but am told by my LFS it is the best (cost enough)
It is a Rena filter (internal)
Yes it happens everytime he feeds!!!
