Hi
Daveedka asked me to post info on the Newport Aquarium in Cincinnati. He said that since the Ac picnic is in Columbus, some people might want to come down to Cinci and see the Aquarium. Here Goes:
Newport Aquarium showcases thousands of animals from around the world in a million gallons of fresh and salt water. Named the No. 1 aquarium in the Midwest in the Zagat Survey’s U.S. Family Travel Guide in 2004, this state-of-the-art facility is open to the public 365 days a year.
It is located on Newport on the Levee. It is open daily 10:00-6:00 daily.
Admissions are:$17.95 Adults
$15.95 Seniors (65+)
$10.95 Children (ages 3 through 12)
Children 2 and under are admitted free
I'll post more later, its bedtime :D

Thanks Freddie,
For those coming to the picnic who may want to take an extra day, Newport is about 2.5 to 3 hours south of Columbus, right off of I-75. I have yet to check out the aquarium, but have heard some really awesome reviews. From what I understand one of the Satwater tanks actually has a tunnel under it that you can walk through and look up at the sharks swimming above you.

I thought newport's aquarium was very short. I havent been to very many public aquariums but i took my ex-girlfriend there once and was disappointed in how fast we walked through the whole place and we took our time also. The exhibits are beautiful so dont let me discourage anyone from thinking its not. Aside from that newport is a fun place alone.

Newport has 70 exhibits and 14 galleries.
Some of these inlude:
Surrounded by Sharks-what it sounds like. A tunnel with sharks on all sides.
Bizarre and Beutiful- features things like: Octopuses, Seahorses, and a 4500gal reef tank
Dangerous and Deadly- my fav. Has SW and FW predators.
Gator Bayou- alligators
Kingdom of Penguins- PENGUINS!!

I went there a few years ago with my wife and kids. We can't wait to go back. All of the exhibits are beautiful and the jellyfish exhibits are absolutely breathtaking! :thm:

Doll, Freddy started this thread for anyone who might be interested in visiting both of the Ohio aquariums while they were here. It's only about a 2 hour drive from columbus to Newport, and despite the fact that it isn't exactly in Ohio we still lay claim to it since Newport is the Kentucky side of Cincinnatti.
