I like to raise guppies, but I have a male fish that is weird I haven't seen a male fish like this. He has Nice body color (Red, orange), but he has know color on his tail it's just clear. I need to know if it's new strain or just another fish that someone else breed. Somebody please tell me.

endler's and wild guppies are very often confused, even by the experts.... but either way, it's not a new strain of "guppy"...

Thank you for telling me know I don't have to worry about it. Know I feel kind of stupid thinking that it was a new strain. It seems like you know a lot about guppies do you breed them and sell them? or what.

eh, no need to feel stupid, it would've been really cool if you did find a new strain though, wouldn't it? While I was growing up, guppies were all my mom had in her tanks (besides a pleco or two).

my feeder guppys sometimes mate with fancy guppys & the babies look like that takeing on traits of both the fancy & plain guppys.I was getting close to a cardinal tetra , out of guppys by selectively breeding the red & blue stripe & it was actualy neon with a leir tail. I use guppys for mosquito control & somehow used the strain .I have 1 now though thats close but would need further breeding to get it back to the way I had them more or less.WalMart had some red orange females & wicked snakeskin males. Even better looking than Big Al's (imo) They have neet ones @ big al's too but they are different.

Hey Dangerdoll, that top pic looks EXACTLY like the little guppy my daughter got at the pet store. She is 6 and we were looking at the fish and this little guy was in with a bunch of neons. She just fell in love with it. I think we paid a whole fifty cents for it, but it is her fav. fish in the 40 gallon. She named him "Apple Dumpling" for some reason. Are they really tiny? The little guy we have is much smaller than our neons and doesn't really seem to be growing much.
Now I know just what "type" of guppy he is. Thanks!

hiya mykidsmylife..... yes, the wild guppies are typically smaller than the regular fancies that you find at the LFS. At least they have always been smaller when I've seen them.... Apple Dumpling sounds adorable :)

Those fish were very nice, not very many of my fish look that nice, but I love them anyway. Do you know why a baby Guppy would attack another species of baby fish like a baby cory fish?
