maintenance on an ac (can you hear me now)

one of my ac's has gotten really loud so i took it off the tank to clean it out. I unattached the black box part that holds the motor and scrubbed all that i could reach but the darn thing is still intensely loud. The worst part is that the tank is in my bedroom so i gotta cover my head with my pillow to fall asleep... any suggestions/tips?

Pull the impellor out and take a look at the shaft and the plastic that sits inside of the magnet. It may have worn and now the magnet moves side to side more which will scrub against the walls of the housing and make noise.

Agree-sounds like an impeller problem. They are not-too expensive to replace, and if there's as much wiggle as it sounds like, that's what you'll need to do. Could just be something is in there banging around, too.

Just make sure you drain the media compartment before removing the pump. Otherwise, it's a bit messy.
