There are two types of goldens. One is extremely common and not a "true" golden, the other is rare and expensive, but is the true golden discus.
The most common one that goes by that name is based on the Pigeonblood gene. Such as this one.

The other is based on the Brown Discus subspecies, rare, and expensive, used in breeding programs extensively when possible, generally breeders never release these fish.
Here is a Ruby Golden Leopard Snakeskin (RGLSS) that is a true golden strain from the Brown Line.
